PROJECT 2029- MANIFESTING A BETTER WORLD FOR ALL
I recently saw someone create a post for Project 2029 and I was compelled to create my own version of it. As many of you know, we are currently living under the proposed plans of Project 2025 - a 900 page manifesto filled with hate and antiquated beliefs the large majority of Americans do not support. Our world is changing and our country is long overdue for some significant change, so I thought I would create this post as a manifestation of what better days ahead could look like.
What would be the key components of Project 2029?
FREE HEALTHCARE FOR ALL
I think this goes without saying, but when all but 43 countries in the world provide free universal healthcare coverage, there is no reason we can’t have it in the United States. We have been gaslit by our corrupt elected officials in Washington DC telling us this is too difficult, but it’s only too difficult because they have all been paid off by the healthcare industry. Meanwhile, Americans struggle with not only crappy healthcare coverage, but expensive health insurance that often leaves us with out of pocket expenses and ultimately medical debt which there is over $88 billion of it outstanding in this country.
FREE SCHOOL LUNCHES
When Tim Walz joined the Harris campaign, he made free school lunches a topic I couldn’t stop thinking about. Children are our future and the most precious resource our country has, why aren’t we feeding children? During the campaign, I frequently said to people “I will pay $8 a gallon for gas if it means children have food in their bellies.” We have to do better for our children and feeding them healthy meals (and healthcare) is key.
SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM
The social security system has been broken for decades. I recommend completely dismantling the system and coming up with something better. I think this is one of the public-private partnership situations where a 401k-type system can be employed where employees can have more control over their futures rather than the government determining some arbitrary monthly payment you qualify for for the rest of your life.
TERM AND AGE LIMITS FOR CONGRESS AND THE SUPREME COURT
One of the many issues our country is facing is the lack of new and fresh ideas coming from our law makers, but why would we get those when most of our law makers are neither new nor fresh. The average age of our current Congress is 58; however, there are members as old as 91. If the federal government is going to mandate retirement ages for other areas of government, why won’t it mandate it for Congress?
NO TRADING FOR PRIVATE ACCOUNTS WHILE A PUBLIC SERVANT
The not so dirty secret of our politicians is that they are all being sponsored in some way, shape or form by corporations and private individuals. In addition, they get to profit off of the insider knowledge they have of government contracts while the rest of us could be arrested or receive jail time, like Martha Stewart, for doing the same thing. People should go into politics to help people, not help their pocketbooks while their constituents struggle.
TAXATION OF NON-PROFITS
I am tired of seeing colleges raise their tuition, maintain billion dollar plus endowments and not pay any taxes. If you are going to force families into six figures of debt to get an education, then you should pay taxes since the American public is left to bear the brunt of college tuition prices. If you are a non-profit like a church with an operating budget over $1MM, then you are a company; and unless all of your money is going back to supporting the community, then you need to pay taxes to support the community. It makes me sick that Joel Osteen runs a massive church in Houston and relies on tax pay dollars for police to manage traffic on Sundays, yet they never open their doors when tragedy strikes Houston, like floods, power outages and freezing temperatures. They shouldn’t rely on FEMA while sitting with millions of dollars in their bank accounts.
INCREASED TAXES FOR LARGE CORPORATIONS AND THE WEALTHY
Most of the U.S. budget issues could easily be resolved with higher taxes for both groups. There is over $6 trillion dollars sitting on corporate balance sheets where they are hoarding it with plans to only benefit their shareholders down the line. We have had to sit and watch stock prices and billionaire’s balance sheets reach all time highs over the last few years yet our government debt has risen, consumer debt has risen and 90% of Americans are struggling on a daily basis.
MILITARY SPENDING REFORM
The United States is a military economy and has been since the early 1900’s when the war efforts saved the country from the Great Depression. Since then, there are now over 90% of Congressional districts that have jobs that support war efforts. So when people get upset that we’re sending money to Ukraine or Israel, it’s actually coming right back to the U.S. It’s why Congress is always quick to approve these campaigns because it means jobs for their constituents, and this makes me sick. No wonder we are a country filled with toxicity and hate, we have been sponsoring and killing innocent people around the world for almost 100 years now. We need to find new and better ways to re-tool these companies to support initiatives that will support better lives for Americans and people around the world.
SAFE COMMUNITIES FOR THE UN-HOUSED
It’s been difficult to watch people’s wealth grow while watching the number of people who are un-housed grow exponentially. I would love to see a national plan to create solutions for these people where they can live and work and become productive members of society.
A WIDESPREAD PLAN FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT
Finally, we need to focus on and find solutions for our planet. The entire point of Project 2029 is to create a better future for our children and our children’s children and giving them a safe home needs to be one of the many priorities we have.
This is just the beginning of this list and I am open to hearing more suggestions and growing this to a 900 page document for the good of all people.
